Curt Schilling goes to bat inside "EverQuest II"
May 24, 2006
You may have seen plenty of villains in fantasy video games before, but I bet you've never seen one quite like this. Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling will come to life inside "EverQuest II" from June 5-7, during the Red Sox-Yankees series, and battle players.
He'll drop loot, but the real reward is that every time he's defeated, Sony Online Entertainment will donate $5 to the ALS Association.
Schilling carries two bat-like clubs and says things like, "You struck out!" and "You're next up!" during the fight (EQ2 characters all have actual voiceovers). It's not a surprise he's in the game - he's a huge EQ fan, has been for years, and has a super-tricked out laptop he takes to play with on the road. He groups with his 10 year old son, Gehrig, every night in game.
After the promotion, he stays in the game as part of the Betrayal quest series, but will be renamed Clint Gilcrush - an anagram of Curt Schilling. Sony promises that for now, at least, he's defeatable - including by level 1 characters created by non-players during the event. If you want to jump in, you don't need a copy of EQ2. Just log in to www.battleals.com during June 5-7. Here's a pic of Schilling in game - and playing the game - to tide you over until then.
Cheers,
Heather

Heather!, Its your old friend Jestor Rodo here. Hey I am coming into town to close on my house next week. But enough about me .
Slow news day to be throwing publicity to the crowned Gaming attention whores at SOE. SOE should just cut a check to ASL instead of running this inane stunt but its the attention they truly seek , SOE I guess we will have to endure and chuckle at the attempt.
Love that Jestor! Clowned Prince of SOE'S STUPIDITY!
