Williams might return Saturday
Nov 29, 2006
Red Wings forward Jason Williams continues to get better two days after suffering a charley horse high on his right thigh.
"Both days feeling a little better," he said Wednesday afternoon. "Got on the bike today and rode it for a little while. Once it gets warmed up, it feels not too bad, but to touch it and things like that, it's pretty sore."
Williams was injured Monday when he was hit by Dallas' Niklas Hagman. The Wings next play Friday at Minnesota.
"I don't think I'll be playing Friday for sure," Williams said. "Saturday, we'll see how I feel."
As for the hit, Williams said, "I haven't really seen it, but just from what I've been told, he stuck his knee out. I just tried to get around him. There was no penalty called - if he had his stick up, parallel, then maybe he would have got a tripping call. But, other than that, I'm not going to worry about it."

There's one clean and simple way to get this kind of hit out of the game. We don't need new rules or new enforcement from the 4 blind mice. Just remove the penalties for instigating. If the result of taking a cheap shot at a player, or not letting up because he's not looking is to get your teeth knocked down your throat by the other teams enforcer, you might think twice about it.
Unfortunately Gary Buttman is against this kind of play because for some reason in Buttopia (his own private universe) the fans hate fighting and don't want to see it in the sport.
