Wings continue to school Blue Jackets
Dec 28, 2006
Blue Jackets coach Ken Hitchcock said after Thursday’s morning skate that he enjoys playing the Red Wings because they provide a “book” full of lessons for his team.
Hitchcock took over a pathetic squad and has quickly transformed them into a competitive team. He marveled at the way the Wings maintain possession of the puck and how they’ve remained a winning franchise.
“They played about the best I’ve ever seen them play in the first 30 minutes,” Hitchcock said after a 7-4 loss.
The Wings ended up teaching the Blue Jackets a lesson they didn't want to learn.
Detroit opened with the first three goals of the game, including two by Dan Cleary, who added the game-winner for his first career hat trick.
The Wings surrendered four straight goals and the lead, only to come back and score the final four goals of the game.
“We work that hard to come back from a deficit and we have to find a way to win the game,” said Columbus captain Adam Foote. “It’s a lesson we don’t want to have to learn again the rest of the year.”

Hockey is dead. The Columbus Blue Jackets? The Minnesota Wild? Get real. The NHL is gone. Thank you Gary Bettman is a tool.
