Chelios not on trip; Datsyuk questionable
Jan 3, 2007
The Red Wings didn't practice Wednesday after arriving in San Jose. Speaking at the team hotel, coach Mike Babcock said Chris Chelios would join the team whenever he felt ready. Chelios stayed in Detroit to deal with the aftermath of the two murders Tuesday at his Cheli's Chili Bar in downtown Detroit.
Pavel Datsyuk has a groin injury that sidelined him Tuesday, and the plan is to see how he does Thursday at the morning skate. The Wings have been very cautious with groin injuries this season, opting to have guys like Niklas Kronwall and Tomas Holmstrom sit out games even after each player said he was ready, all in an effort to prevent recurrences.
