Datsyuk out; Chelios to join team in Denver

Jan 4, 2007

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Red Wings center Pavel Datsyuk will miss tonight's game against the Sharks because of lingering groin injury.

His status remains day-to-day.

Coach Mike Babcock said that defenseman Chris Chelios was expected to rejoin the team Monday in Denver. Chelios, who had been bothered last week by a leg injury, has remained in Detroit to deal with the aftermath of a double homicide Tuesday at his Cheli's Chili Bar opposite Comerica Park.

The Wings play Saturday at Los Angeles and Sunday at Anaheim. Then it's off to Denver to play the Avalanche on Tuesday.
